Saskatoon Youth House League

August 21, 2018 – This program has been put on hold pending confirmation of facility rental.

Volleyball House League  is to begin the week starting Sunday January 13th, 2019 and concludes Thursday March 28th. This is planned to be a 10 week program.

Sorry, not accepting registrations quite yet!

The League is for girls and boys in the 14, 15 & 16 age category. The number of teams per division is dependent on the number of participants in each of the age categories.  We may have to adjust the amount of teams as registration unfolds.  Preference is to make separate girls and boys teams but we may have to adjust as needed.

The league provides optional practice times for basic and advanced training and team play during the season.  The league will run like  intra-mural sports in high schools during lunch time.  This is for the non-club kids to practice and play volleyball in an organized competitive and meaningful manner.

Register as a individual and join a volleyball team to participate in the League held at the Henk Ruys Soccer Centre in Lawson.  No try-outs.  Everyone participates.  On the registration form, kids are to “self declare” their volleyball abilities for their team assignments.  Choices offered will be: 1) new to the game 2) some volleyball experience 3) more than some experience.

Teams would be put together randomly by a “drawing of lots” on Draft Day using a deck of cards to select participants to be placed onto teams, 9 members will be selected for each team.  Each team will consist of 3 players from each Self Declare category.  If one category is greater than others, then adjustments will be made to the team roster on Draft Day.

The league will follow “fair play” rules meaning all team members will play.  This will be done by rotating in and out after the serve is completed for each team.  The team start-up rotation list will be submitted by the team captains.  Team captains will be picked from Self Declare Category #3 and will receive training along with a team handbook about responsibilities about how to manage their team during the season.

This program, although new in design follows the LTAD Guidelines as outlined under Volleyball Canada’s Learn to Train Programs with 70% training time & 30% competition time.
